Samsung joins Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode pool as licensee and licensor, settles Wilus litigation

Context: Sisvel’s Wi-Fi Multimode pool, the successor to its Wi-Fi 6 program that closed nearly 40 deals over three years (November 18, 2025 ip fray article), launched publicly in January and has since added several licensees, most recently Microsoft (June 30, 2026 ip fray article).

What’s new: Samsung Electronics has become both a licensee and a licensor under the Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode pool, Sisvel announced today. The agreement also resolves a pending patent infringement dispute between Samsung and the Wilus Institute of Standards and Technology in the Eastern District of Texas.

Direct impact: The deal ends the Wilus v. Samsung litigation and brings the number of licensor-licensee companies in the pool to five, alongside Huawei, Panasonic, Philips, and ZTE. Samsung joins ASUS, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Microsoft, and Sony Group Corporation as a pool licensee.

Wider ramifications: Samsung’s participation, both as a major implementer and as a patent contributor, strengthens the pool’s standing as a default clearing option for Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 disputes and adds to its patent offering across product categories.
