What’s new: We have found out that the Munich court received more than 150 patent infringement complaints in the first half of 2026, slightly up from 2025 where the number was below 150. It is too early to tell whether the number for the full year will also increase, given a yearend spike in 2025 that may or ay not repeat itself this year. Furthermore, practitioners confirm that the court’s patent infringement panels (the 7th Civil Chamber under Presiding Judge Dr. Oliver Schoen (“Schön”) and the 21st Civil Chamber under Presiding Judge Dr. Hubertus Schacht) continue to schedule their trials within 11 months of filing.
