- Acer and Jingshi have recently sued agricultural vehicle market leader John Deere (August 21, 2026 ip fray article) over cellular standard-essential patents (SEPs).
- AGCO, the world’s second-largest maker of agricultural machinery behind Deere, sells tractors, combines, and other farm equipment under the Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and Valtra brands, and its newer machines increasingly rely on built-in cellular connectivity.
- Sol IP, LLC, has previously sued Chinese automaker BYD in the Munich I Regional Court (February 19, 2025 ip fray article), then extended that campaign to the Mannheim Regional Court and the UPC Hague Local Division (LD) (May 27, 2025 ip fray article), adding a second UPC suit not long after (May 30, 2025 ip fray article). All seven of those BYD lawsuits ultimately settled, most likely through an Avanci license, not long after a Brazilian court affirmed a preliminary injunction (PI) against BYD (September 25, 2025 ip fray article). A similar pattern already played out with trucks: Acer and Longhorn affiliate L2 Mobile Technologies sued truck maker PACCAR over 4G SEPs in Munich and the Eastern District of Texas (July 19, 2025 ip fray article), a dispute that also ended in an apparent Avanci license once Acer withdrew its Munich case on the eve of trial (April 15, 2026 ip fray article).
