8. Around the court: UPC and EPO renew cooperation on court’s digital case management platform
The UPC and the EPO have renewed their cooperation on the development and operation of the Case Management System (CMS), signing an updated Memorandum of Understanding at the European Judges’ Forum in Venice on October 23–24, 2026. The agreement establishes a framework for continued collaboration on the Court’s digital platform, covering both the UPC’s and the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre’s (PMAC) CMS. The renewed arrangement builds on the institutions’ existing partnership and reflects their shared commitment to maintaining efficient, secure, reliable, and user-oriented digital infrastructure for the Unitary Patent system. The CoA President Klaus Grabinski said the agreement would strengthen cooperation between the institutions while ensuring that the court’s CMS continues to meet the needs of its users.
