Decision-makers in litigation finance (LF) and intellectual property (IP) can now sign up for one or both of two co-located events taking place in London from June 23 to 25: the 2nd Annual IP Dealmakers Europe and/or the 2nd Annual LF Dealmakers Europe.
ip fray is the official media partner of the dual event and will report before, during and after. It is a first for us to become involved in any role with an event. It will remain a rare exception, but after attending last year’s inaugural IP Dealmakers Europe (in the U.S., these events have been incredibly successful for much longer) with a very positive outcome, we were simply convinced that this is in the interest of many of our readers. Not only will we report, but we are active in IP and LF dealmaking and will hold one-to-one meetings with IP and LF decision-makers at the event.
This article has three parts (you can click to go directly to a particular section, or just scroll down):
- The dual-event concept and its mix of conference and private meetings
- Our successful experience at last year’s inaugural European edition
- Three of our current IP/LF dealmaking projects (selling patents and raising litigation funds)
To register for the event, just click on the banner below:

1. The dual-event concept and its mix of conference and private meetings
Both events take place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London (like last year). If you sign up for only IP or only LF, you can attend conference sessions for your chosen conference (“single event ticket”), or you can sign up for both (“all access ticket”) at a premium of 400 UK pounds. That price difference is always the same, but right now, until January 31, the lowest overall rates (called “priority rates”) are available with a saving of up to £900.
The LF event is not limited to IP. There are various other types of litigations that get funded, such as collective actions, antitrust claims, shareholder lawsuits, and so forth.
Some attendees are exclusively interested in the conference(s) while others primarily schedule one-to-one meetings via the Dealmakers Forum app and attend conference sessions only in between such meetings.

2. Our successful experience at last year’s inaugural European edition
Only a few monthers after founding Fray Media, I attended last year’s event for dealmaking purposes (April 12, 2024 ip fray article) and participated in a panel discussion on standard-essential patents (SEPs) (April 20, 2024 ip fray article). That is why it was a no-brainer for me to accept Dealmakers Forums’ invitation to become a media partner in this year’s edition of both events.
I listened to several other conference sessions, and the quality of the speakers and the content was very high. Those interested in both IP and LF can register for the combo ticket and easily switch between sessions as the two conference rooms (one per event) are adjacent.
My dealmaking project was about raising litigation funds for a U.S. law firm’s portfolio of cases, which is IP-heavy, but not IP-exclusive, and became even more diverse during the process. My client came over from the U.S. (as did many others). We went to a number of scheduled meetings together, and also had some separate (non-scheduled) chats.
It was at this event that I met, for the first time in person, the funder with whom my client closed the deal The amount is in the middle eight figures. There were also various other conversations that I had and which were not planned, including with several readers. Those other contacts could also result in transactions going forward.
I can recommend the location, which is a nice modern hotel and conveniently located. I took the Heathrow Express and simply walked from Paddington Station to the Royal Lancaster.
3. Three of our current IP/LF dealmaking projects (selling patents and raising litigation funds)
I am currently working on several IP/LF dealmaking projects. For two different types of buyers (an operating company and a non-practicing entity) I have recently reached out to owners of patents in certain fields to find out whether they had assets to sell. I cannot be more specific about that in public, but I can mention three current projects as examples of what I am doing. Those projects will all presumably be completed by the time of IP/LF Dealmakers Europe 2025. It is just about showing that this is an unusual case of a media partner actually being part of the very target audience.

Furthermore, I’m assisting a promising IP-focused AI startup in forming partnerships, particularly around declared and undeclared SEPs across various standards.
