- Headwater LLC, founded in 2008 by scientist Dr. Gregory Raleigh, mainly focuses on developing mobile operating systems and cloud technology.
- It is a relatively active patent enforcer, having previously sued several Big Tech companies such as Google, Apple, and Samsung over its cloud computing technologies. It settled with the latter last September, following a two-year dispute that spanned the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the UPC, and which saw Headwater win a $278 million jury verdict (September 15, 2025 ip fray article).
