Context: Harbour Antibodies, a Dutch subsidiary of China’s Harbour BioMed, develops so-called Harbour Mice to create antibodies for the research, development, and production of biologic drugs. In December 23, 2021, Harbour Antibodies, Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam, and Dr. Roger Kingdon Craig sued Teneobio (a clinical-stage biotech company bought by Amgen in late 2021: October 19, 2021 Amgen press release) in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware over the alleged infringement of four patents: U.S. Patent No. 9,346,877 (“Binding molecules”), U.S. Patent No. 9,353,179 (“Binding molecules”), U.S. Patent No. 10,906,970 (“Methods of making heavy chain only antibodies using transgenic animals”), and U.S. Patent No. 10,993,420 (“Production of heavy chain only antibodies in transgenic mammals”). The suit asserted that Teneobio’s UniRat system for genetically engineering rats infringed its ​technology. A jury trial was held last week, between June 8 and June 12, 2026, overseen by Judge Maryellen Noreika.
