An interview with Proxense CEO John Giobbi 

Founded in 2001, Proxense LLC is an Oregon-based non-practising entity (NPE) and former operating company focused on enforcing patented biometric authentication and wireless communication technology, in particular its “ProxPay” system. The company has over 90 active patents, and its portfolio has steadily grown over time as it has filed continuations of the original disclosures to protect more of what it developed.

In 2013, it launched a multi-patent infringement campaign targeting several big tech companies, including Samsung, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Apple, and LG Electronics, alleging the infringement of its biometric authentication and wireless patents.

In an exclusive interview with ip fray, Proxense’s CEO, John Giobbi, discusses the road leading up to Proxense’s litigation campaign, his company’s patent assertions in the automotive industry, his stance on recent USPTO PTAB policy changes, and his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis.
