Context: Industrial vehicle and equipment makers Caterpillar (CAT) and Doosan Bobcat have been engaged in a multi-jurisdictional patent showdown since late last year, when Doosan filed complaints in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). This was followed by further filings at the Unified Patent Court (UPC) (December 16, 2025 ip fray article) and in Germany; and an Eastern District of Texas countersuit from CAT (March 25, 2026 ip fray article).
