Malta-based Adalvo is a B2B pharmaceutical company that licenses its products and IP to generic partners across the industry, including, for example, a portfolio of products that focuses on oncology, women’s health, cardiovascular, and the central nervous system. The company is a sort of “middleman” and also offers IP strategy guidance to its partners.
Steering the company’s IP department out of Barcelona is Toni Santamaria. His team of seven is spread across Europe and India and manages a portfolio of about 40 active patents. Mr. Santamaria, who has been at Adalvo since August 2021, was appointed Chief IP Officer last year.
In an interview with ip fray on the sidelines of IP Dealmakers Europe earlier this month (May 12, 2026 ip fray article), Mr. Santamaria discussed how his team makes swift, efficient decisions, the priorities for the company now that it has grown to over 300 people, as well as some of his major career highlights.
