Context: IP disputes concerning gallium nitride (GaN) have mushroomed amid the semiconductor material’s growing strategic importance. In one such case last month, Japanese chipmaker Renesas Electronics filed suit against U.S.-based competitor Navitas Semiconductor in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, accusing it and several of its senior executives of trade secret misappropriation (July 22, 2026 Reuters article).
