SIM IP launches IoT patent campaign against Samsung with parallel UPC, Munich lawsuits

Context: Sauvegarder Investment Management (SIM) IP, led by Erich Spangenberg, has rapidly expanded its patent monetization business through acquisitions and enforcement campaigns. This year alone, it merged with Garden Intel to form a $150 million IP monetization platform (February 6, 2026 ip fray article), acquired Australian company Qord IP’s IoT patent portfolio (February 1, 2026 ip fray article), and acquired several Alibaba video coding patents (May 19, 2026 ip fray article). The company has increasingly focused on networking, AI, streaming, and IoT technologies.
