Context: Finesse Wireless LLC sued AT&T Mobility in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in August 2021, alleging the latter’s 4G and 5G network services infringed two radio signal-related patents. In January 2023, a jury awarded Finesse $166.3 million in damages; AT&T and intervenor Nokia—which supplied base stations for the network provider—appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which overturned the district court judgment (September 24, 2025 ip fray article).
