Kisaco Research’s fourth annual Patent Litigation Summit Europe concluded on January 21, 2026, after four days of discussion at Amsterdam’s Beurs van Berlage, with ip fray serving as the event’s official media partner. While the opening day on January 18–19 was devoted entirely to litigation before the UPC, subsequent panels across January 20 and 21 suggested that the UPC’s influence on global patent strategy, particularly in the life sciences sector, remains more measured than transformative.

While some speakers described the UPC as an increasingly powerful forum, others warned that aggressive reliance on cross-border effects could complicate enforcement strategies. The conference underscored a broader theme: the UPC is now firmly part of the global litigation toolkit, but it is not a silver bullet.
