Context: Proxense LLC, a non-practicing entity (NPE) that has built a licensing campaign around roughly 90 patents covering wireless communication and biometric authentication technology, has already settled with Samsung, later with Google (January 24, 2025, ip fray, article), and with Intel (March 24, 2026, ip fray, article),while its stayed cases against Apple which was initiated in early 2024 (March 23, 2024, ip fray, article), and Microsoft remain stayed. Its CEO, John Giobbi, discussed the company’s enforcement strategy in an exclusive interview with ip fray (April 7, 2026, ip fray article). Proxense also recently took a set of Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) losses to the Federal Circuit (April 7, 2026, ip fray article). Cisco Systems, one of the world’s largest networking equipment makers, had not previously been named in Proxense’s publicly reported enforcement campaign. The patents at issue here cover wireless scheduling technology rather than the biometric authentication patents behind Proxense’s earlier fights.
